Puritan Medical Products—America’s swab experts—is announcing the release of a groundbreaking new product: PurSafe Plus^®  Collection & Transport System. PurSafe Plus^® is intended for the collection, inactivation, and preservation of human upper respiratory specimens suspected of containing SARS-CoV2, influenza virus, and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). Specimens collected and preserved in PurSafe Plus^® are suitable for use with legally marketed molecular diagnostic devices, revolutionizing the field of rapid diagnostics.

To reduce the testing turnaround times related to SARS-CoV2, RSV, and the flu, PurSafe Plus^® can provide results in an under an hour without compromising quality. With the ability to preserve samples up to 28 days at 86 degrees Fahrenheit, PurSafe Plus^® can collect and preserve SARS-CoV2 upon contact, while RSV and the flu can be collected and preserved in a matter of minutes (a single test is able to collect and preserve all three viruses). Available with or without a swab, PurSafe Plus^® has officially been cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for SARS-CoV2 use, but the product also applies to RSV and the flu, in addition to other medical and environmental applications.

PurSafe Plus^®  will be offered as stand-alone media, or with one of three variations of HydraFlock^®, Puritan's patented flocked specimen collection swabs. HydraFlock^® is proven to collect and elute more sample when compared with spun fiber swabs, due to the increased surface area of each of its unique fibers.
